Tips For Using Pinterest To Promote Your Business

A quick reminder that the deadline for the next Amber Grant for Woman is next week. If you haven’t yet applied, we would love to hear your story. It only takes a few minutes of your time. In the meantime, we did a little research on one of the hottest social media platforms — Pinterist.

Pinterest is one of the fastest-growing social media platforms today. It’s basically a virtual pinboard of pictures and notes. As the Pinterest website says, people use pinboards to plan their weddings, share recipesand decorate their homes. So you can share your ideas (read: promote your business) with a huge universe of people.

Statistics gathered through various surveys show that there are about 10 million unique visitors on Pinterest every month. Imagine the business such traffic can generate for you. Here are a few great tips to help you use this platform to promote your woman-owned business:

It Is All About Visuals – Pinterest is all about the best pictures. An old adage said, ‘A picture is worth a 1,000 words!’ Do make your picture worth 1,000 words. Choose pictures that touch the heart and at the same time speak loud and clear about what your business is all about. Make your pictures so compelling that no one who sees them can ignore them or resist clicking on them.

Make Catalogues Super Attractive – Catalogues are like window-shopping. The more attractive you make them, the more people would like to “step into your shop.” While the catalogue should be designed to attract, you need to ensure that it is as informative as possible as well. When a person decides to take a look, she should be able to find all information about the product he is interested in at one glance.

Many businesses make the mistake of keeping the catalogues enigmatic; people do not have time to click on every picture 5 times before finding the information they want. Have everything right there in front – type/ color/ size/ price/ discount/ free shipping/ and so on. Make it easy for them to decide they want to buy it.

Pin Special and Irresistible Offers – You know how it is. If you find something of great value on the Internet, won’t you let your close friends know about it? Ensure you post a special and very attractive picture that entices the reader to look up your super excellent offer.
