$10K Startup Grant Awarded to 3 Queens Soul Cuisine

3 Queens Soul Cuisine

Woman Entrepreneur:
Nakisha James

Nakisha is the founder of 3 Queens Soul Cuisine in Mesa, AZ and here’s a little of what she told us:

I was a stay-at-home mom.  My older two daughters desperately wanted to play volleyball for a specific club team out here in Arizona where we reside. I could not afford the fees for them to play but I knew I had to do something for my babies. Everyone always raved about my cooking so I decided to put it out on social media I would sell some dinners to make extra cash to help pay for the volleyball fees. This was all out of my home kitchen where I was not licensed. So, somehow the department of health found out and I was shut down. However, people still call and email all the time for me to cook food for them and to cater their events. I want to abide the law.

I would definitely use it to pay for all of the licensing and fees I need for my business. Being a caterer here in Arizona requires quite a few fees to be paid or you will be shut down. I want to make sure I am following all of the laws and regulations so that my business will flourish and have no hiccups…I would find another single mom and I would help with her build her business. I am a single mother and I have a heart for other single moms that are out here working every day to support themselves and their children.
