July Animal Services Grant Awarded to Heartwood Haven

Heartwood Haven

Woman Entrepreneur:
Kate Tsyrklevich & Hope Hilman

Our seventh $10,000 grant winner for 2023 and the July Business-Specific Category (Animal Services) goes to Kate Tsyrklevich & Hope Hilman, co-founders of Heartwood Haven.

Here’s a little bit of what they shared with us:

Animals arrive at Heartwood Haven having experienced the worst of humanity. The sanctuary does more than just provide food for previously starved animals. We provide veterinary care such as spay/neuter services so animals can find adoptive homes. We provide rehabilitation services to animals who have previously been abused or attacked and don’t know how to trust others.

Since starting the rescue in 2017, we have rescued over 1500 animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. We work primarily with animal control and law enforcement to take in animals who not only come from the worst imaginable circumstances but have nowhere else to go.”

Heartwood Haven plans to use the grant to further develop their 45-acre farm by offsetting some of their ongoing expansion project costs – medical room improvements, animal feed, and veterinary care.
