Go-Go Fitness LLC

Woman Entrepreneur:
Danette “Dani” Tucker

Our second $10,000 grant winner for 2022 and the February Business-Specific Category Health & Fitness goes to Danette “Dani” Tucker, founder of Go-Go Fitness LLC company.

Dani told us Go-Go Fitness is celebrating their 10th anniversary — though 10 years ago, people didn’t believe it would last 10 months.

“I am a native Washingtonian who started Go-Go Fitness to give the residents of DC an alternative to Zumba and other dance fitness programs that did not include nor encourage the use of our home-grown music. My first class had 8 students on Feb 11, 2012 and cost $5 per person with kids 15 an under attending class for free with their parents to promote healthy families and to give single mothers and those with low income the opportunity to get fit to the music they love and stay close to home.”

Dani added: My small business is composed of myself and 20 volunteer – instructors and fit team members that spread the love of Go-Go music and other home grown sounds of DC, MD & VA throughout in service to the fitness, health and wellness needs of all who will join us. As we approach our next 10 years and at the request of our many members, we would like to expand our passion to serve others and our small business to invite and encourage entrepreneurship in women especially among the underserved.

Dani plans on using the $10,000 grant to make Go-Go Fitness a franchise opportunity for new instructors and future women small business entrepreneurs. We’ll be watching to see how Go-Go Fitness moves forward in the next 10 years.

Reminder that the category of the $10,000 Business Specific Grant in March is Food & Beverage. If you applied for an Amber Grant in 2022 and your business is related to Food & Beverage, you’re eligible to win the $10,000. If you’re going to apply in March, you’re eligible to win both the $10,000 Amber Grant as well as the $10,000 Business Specific Grant.
